Shen and Konen Library of Well Logging
Well Logging Laboratory received book donations from Dr. Shen and Dr. Konen and established “Shen and Konen Library of Well Logging”.
The collection of the library includes nearly 400 technical books, journal publications and conference proceedings. The library is located in W342_D3 in Well Logging Laboratory. The library is open to public. List of books and papers are available upon request.
Liang C. Shen
Dr. Shen received the Ph. D. degree in applied physics from Harvard University in 1967. He then joined the faculty of the University of Houston in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He served as the Department Chairman from 1977 to 1981. He was a full-time research consultant at Gulf Oil Exploration and Production Company during 1981-82, and at ARCO Oil and Gas Company during 1990-91. Dr. Shen founded the Well Logging Laboratory in 1979. He has supervised 36 master and 11 Ph. D. students and has published a textbook, more than 90 papers in technical journals and 11 in Society of Professional Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) Annual Logging Symposium Transactions.
Charles E. Konen
Charles E. (Chuck) Konen has been involved with petrophysics and log analysis for over forty years with major and independent oil companies, service companies and independent consulting. His multiple roles in research, training and operations with service companies, international (> 120 countries) and domestic oil companies have provided a unique perspective of the petrophysical world.
