Abstract
Dielectric-constant logging is a relatively new technique in formation evaluation. In this paper a brief introduction of the principle of dielectric-constant logging is given. Present status of the tool development is reported. A survey of the technical staffs of nine oil companies has been conducted. Their comments on the advantages and limitations of the dielectric-constant tools and suggestions for further improvements are given. Some important areas of research to overcome present problems in dielectric-constant logging are recommended.
