“Charts for correcting the effect of formation dip and hole deviation on induction logs,” The Log Analyst, Vol. 28, No. 4, pp. 349-356, July-August 1987.

Abstract

Computer-simulated deep induction logs show that the apparent resistivity at the center of a dipping bed is significantly affected by the dip of the bed. Generally the apparent resistivity of a resistive dipping bed decreases with dip angle. It is not unusual to find that the apparent resistivity decreases by a factor of two or more when the dip angle is varied from 0 to 60 degrees for thin beds. To obtain the true resistivity a significant correction is needed. Such quantitative correction is now available in the form of correction charts. Charts for dip angles of 5 , 30, 45, and 60 degrees for shoulder bed resistivities of 1 and 10 ohm-m are presented.
